After the latest delay to their hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto franchise, experts now agree that it’s unlikely Rockstar will release GTA 6 before Tottenham Hotspur win another trophy – an activity Spurs were previously banned from attempting under long-standing club superstition.
The North London club historically known for “nearly,” “almost,” and “close but please stop watching” – finally won the Europa League earlier this year thanks to some Ange Postecoglou second-season black magic. Meanwhile, Rockstar has delayed GTA 6 again, this time to November 2026, in corporate terms meaning: “see you when your grandchildren start school.”
Analysts say this creates a “rare cosmic alignment” where Tottenham winning things is now more likely and predictable than Rockstar releasing a video game. One researcher described the trend as a “Michel Vormhole.”
Insiders also suggest the incident in which two Spurs players appeared to mug off new manager Thomas Frank had nothing to do with the loss, but instead came after receiving a tip-off about the impending Rockstar delay.
One bookmaker described the market as “the first time Tottenham have ever been favourites in any timeline, real or fictional.”
For now, both timelines remain locked in a duel: one club desperately trying to prove their first trophy wasn’t an accident, and one game studio desperately trying to render a jiggly ass without melting a developer’s GPU.
After taking over Sydney-based studio Deluxe in March 2025, some sources suggest Rockstar are now in talks with Ange Postecoglou to strengthen their Australian connection and finally steer them toward success again.
